Lourenço Vaz was born in Lisbon on April 18, 1997.
He was also born in New York in the 1980s, in Rome in the 1960s, and in South Korea in the early 2000s through the films and alternate realities that flickered from the DVDs he watched obsessively growing up.
In spite of the passion for films and stories, he opted to study economics in highschool. Nevertheless, while Mrs. Conceição kept explaining the law of offer and demand, he started writing his first script on the back of the texbook.
The call to adventure was accepted. The journey just started.

"I don’t think there is a fit here for you. You should try a school that better suits your taste.”
Shortly after failing to enter the conservatory, the Cinema & TV course at ETIC appeared, where the foundations of his work began to take shape.
Antonioni, Chaplin, Refn, Park, Jarmusch and Melville became key references during that period, eventually leading him to London to pursue a screenwriting diploma at LFA.
Alongside film, literature remained equally important, with writers such as Knausgaard, Gógol, Saramago or Foster Wallace forging his approach to storytelling.
Inspired by the music of bands such as Television, The Strokes and Sonic Youth, he began earning his first paychecks filming rock concerts.
And that's when all changed.

During that period, while managing a bar on Pink Street, he directed his first short film. After a few awards and critical praise, it helped confirm he was moving in the right direction.
Although the main focus is narrative fiction, his body of work also includes commercials and documentaries for several TV channels and brands, including Euronews, CNN, Mercedes, Lidl and Yoggi.
In 2023, he co-founded Disaster, a production company focused on communicating the uncommunicable and testing the limits of storytelling.
In 2025, he partnered up with GCIMedia Group, where he now leads the audiovisual department focusing to grow the company visually and criatively.
Chronically unsatisfied and a rule-bender, he assumes this story will eventually need more acts.
